Isabella Swinton Todd was born at Sicily in 1812, a British Subject, as stated in the 1851 Census. Her mother was Elizabeth Todd (later Davies from a 2nd marriage) and it is thought that her father (unknown at present) was killed in action whilst serving abroad in the army or civil service. Isabella Swinton married Frederick Henry Gilpin at Much Wenlock in 1833 and lived at Cannock until her death in 1855. We would like to establish the reason for Isabella's middle name of Swinton.
