Isabella Jackson nee Gilpin and Henry Jackson: Henry Swinton's Parents
Isabella was born at Rushall, Staffordshire in 1837, married Henry Jackson, a solicitor, at Cannock in 1857 and died at Donnington, Salop in 1914. Henry was born at Aldridge in 1833 and died at Great Alne in 1905. They raised their family in West Bromwich and Handsworth, Birmingham before moving to Shropshire. By 1901 Henry and his eldest son Henry Swinton were living at Great Alne and the rest of the family stayed at Shifnal in a house called 'Inglewood'.
Henry Swinton Jackson
Henry Swinton was born at Handsworth in 1858 and at the age of 22 in the 1881 Census he was described as a tobacconist living at St Marylebone, London. In 1891 he was back home with his family at Shifnal, Salop and employed as a commission agent. By 1901 he was a wine agent at Great Alne Lodge where Amy Harrison served as a housekeeper. He was mentioned in his mother's will dated 7 September 1914 and that is the last we know about him. We would welcome any news of Henry Swinton's whereabouts after that or of his sisters Esther Amy and Edith Mary.
