Thomas Gilpin was a successful Wolverhampton innkeeper and butcher in the mid-18th Century. He owned the Red Cow Inn in Dudley Street and his butcher's shop was on the opposite side of the road. It was at the Red Cow Inn that his son, William Gilpin, met his future wife Jane Bradney.
